Marvin is the founder and author of Thematic Markets, an independent research publication covering the themes driving the global political economy and markets. Prior to launching it, he spent eight years at Barclays as Managing Director and Global Head of FX and Emerging Markets Macro Strategy, and earlier served as Chief Economist for International Affairs at the US Treasury, Global Currency Economist at Citigroup, and an economist at the Federal Reserve Board, including a secondment to the Bank for International Settlements, along with buy-side roles as a strategist and portfolio manager. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from UC San Diego and a B.A. from UC Berkeley.
