Tyler is Chief Economist at ExxonMobil, a Griffin Fellow at the Hoover Institution, as well as being an author. Prior to ExxonMobil, he was a director and chief economist at Greenmantle, a macroeconomic and geopolitical consulting firm. From 2020 to 2021 he was acting chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers. He has held academic appointments at Oxford, King's College London, and Stanford. Tyler holds a Ph.D. in economics from Cambridge University and a Ph.D. in history from Harvard University.
