William White

William White is currently a Senior Fellow at the C.D. Howe Institute in Toronto, Canada. Prior to this he was the chairman of the Economic and Development Review Committee at the OECD in Paris. William joined the Bank for International Settlements in June 1994 as Manager in the Monetary and Economic Department, and was appointed to the position of Economic Adviser and Head of the Monetary and Economic Department (MED), in May 1995. He began his professional career at the Bank of England, where he was an economist from 1969 to 1972. Subsequently he spent 22 years with the Bank of Canada. He received his BA from the University of Windsor in Windsor, Canada. In 1969 he received his PhD from the University of Manchester, UK.
