Joe describes himself as an author, journalist, public speaker and occasional university teacher, who is based much of the time in Cambridge. He was a founder of the Asian research firm Dragonomics, now Gavekal Dragonomics, and the founding editor of the China Economic Quarterly. He lived most of his career in China and elsewhere in East Asia and has worked across all the major Asian economies, from Japan to India. Joe earned his masters and doctorate from the University of Cambridge, in Development Economics and International Development, focused on processes of technology acquisition in manufacturing companies in emerging economies.
